Tara Sahyadri Tiger Reserve Welcomes Tigress T20-S-2 in Stunning Sightings

Sahyadri Tiger Reserve has welcomed Tigress T20-S-2, marking the first tiger relocation under Operation Tara after a safe and carefully monitored transfer from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. The translocation is considered an important step in Maharashtra’s tiger conservation efforts, with the tigress’s first movements inside the reserve successfully captured through forest department trap cameras.

The arrival of Tigress T20-S-2 in Sahyadri Tiger Reserve comes after approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to relocate eight tigers in total, including three males and five females, from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Pench Tiger Reserve to Sahyadri Tiger Reserve.

The relocation process was carried out under strict safety protocols and continuous monitoring by wildlife experts. Dr. R.S. Khobragade, Wildlife Veterinary Officer from Tadoba National Park, supervised the medical operation and ensured the tigress remained healthy and stable throughout the journey.

Officials described the successful relocation of Tigress T20-S-2 as a major milestone for tiger conservation in Maharashtra. Forest department trap cameras later captured visuals of the tigress moving inside the forest area of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The achievement was made possible through the coordinated, scientific, and responsible efforts of the teams from Tadoba and Sahyadri, highlighting a strong collaborative approach toward wildlife conservation in the state.
